The °ÅÀÖÊÓƵ Tutoring Center is hiring motivated, capable and personable students to be tutors. We are looking for tutors in a variety of subjects, including math, history, biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, nursing, and political science. We strive to recruit peer tutors for most undergraduate level courses.

°ÅÀÖÊÓƵ's STAR Services Tutor Training Program is certified at levels 1 and 2 by the internationally recognized .

Tutor Job Description

  • Provide individual and/or small group assistance in specific subjects, as well as support to enhance students' learning and study skills
  • Maintain accurate records of tutor sessions
  • Participate in regularly scheduled training sessions
  • Provide consistent performance by following established expectations and tutoring policies and procedures
  • Perform office and administrative tasks
  • Other duties as assigned

What are the qualifications to be a tutor?

Required

  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Demonstrated proficiency in specific tutoring subject areas (A or B grades in courses)
  • Two references, including at least one from a current °ÅÀÖÊÓƵ faculty member who can attest to subject proficiency
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong decision-making skills

Preferred

  • Undergradute student status
  • Previous tutoring experience
  • Customer service experience
  • Computer proficiency
